She is in a season of exploring her next best career move. She is grateful to have been part of the USAA team for 23 years and most recently served as a lead program manager for the Chief Design Office. She has been part of the military community her entire life as her dad served 24 years in the Air Force and that sparked her advocacy for military families. She has an MBA in Business Administration/Marketing from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). She completed the Nonprofit Leadership certificate from the University of Texas and the certification for the National Diversity Council Certified Diversity Professional (NDCCDP) in 2020. \nOutside of work Summer is passionate about volunteering and engaging in community outreach events with an emphasis on military kids\, STEM initiatives\, and youth empowerment programs. Her favorite annual event is the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) national good grief camp which provides a safe space for military children to explore grief and embrace healing. She currently serves as a board member and on the Community Advisory Council (CAC) for I Live Here I Give Here. \nSummer is a member of Impact Austin and co-chair for Girls Giving Grants (g3) collaborating with young ladies in 8th-12th grade. She also serves on the I Live Here I Give Here Board of Directors. She is the 2023 Membership Chair for Circle of Impact (giving circle) that supports Dress for Success Austin and was awarded the 2020 volunteer of the year by Dress for Success Austin. She is a 2021 fellow for the inaugural cohort of the African American Leadership Institute (AALI). She is a 2022\, 2021\, and 2020 recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award for completing 250+ volunteer hours annually in support of military families. She also enjoys earning medals from virtual races\, live music\, exploring museums\, and trying new local restaurants/food trucks.

DESCRIPTION:Prospective grant applicants are encouraged to attend our 2024-25 Letter of Intent (LOI) and Grants Process Virtual Information Session. We will focus on eligibility requirements\, specifics on how to complete the LOI including attachments\, and our grants process. In addition\, questions will be answered and helpful tips provided. We find that organizations that send a representative are more likely to prepare a complete LOI application package which often leads to an invitation to the grant application step. \nRegistration is required.
