2012 RECIPIENT:

BOYS & GIRLS CLUB

The Boys and Girls Club has $20,000 to implement Triple Pay 2012.

“The Boys & Girls Club of Georgetown is so thankful for the support of the Seeds of Strength Giving Circle once again. As we move toward the opening of a second site, it is comforting for myself and the Board of Directors to know that we have community support to help us in our mission. We are currently experiencing quite a few challenges as a growing organization however, we stay grounded in the fact that our vision is centered on the idea of serving our local youth and families in a safe and affordable manner.

Just this morning I spoke with a mother who had recently relocated to the area and is currently trying to get her life together. She has two children, one of whom is Autistic. She called The Boys & Girls Club because she is trying to find a place for her children to go to during the summer months as she will be attending school during the day and working at night. When I explained how we can streamline her son into our program she seemed happy. When I told her that we only charge $10 per child, per year, she was overwhelmed and proceeded to tell me how she had approached many summer programs but all were unaffordable to her. Her words were that we were a “blessing”.

The SOS allocation is designated toward specific programming in the fall of 2012 and into 2013, however it is important to know that your support does enable us to supplement our overall budget and continue to offer our programs and services to those people who need us the most. Thank you so much.”
