SoS receives awardOn August 28, 2022, Seeds of Strength was the proud recipient of a service award from Capital IDEA.  Known as the Whitlow Good Neighbor Award, this honor is typically given to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the improvement of his or her community.  August’s presentation marked the first time that this prestigious award was presented to a non-profit organization for its ongoing service to the community.

Whitlow Good Neighbor AwardCapital IDEA’s mission is “to lift working adults out of poverty and into living-wage careers through education and career advancement.”  Over ten years, from 2012 through 2022, Seeds of Strength has awarded a total of $120,000 to Capital IDEA to help defray the costs of Georgetown students enrolled in Austin Community College programs targeted to high paying professions like healthcare and technology.

Receiving the award for Seeds of Strength were 2022-23 President Marsi Liddell and Compliance Liaisons Judy Trice and Mary Loretto Buckley.  The award was presented to SoS by a Georgetown graduate from the program, now certified R.N., Alicia Rodriguez.
