This November, as we celebrate “Gratitude Month,” I reflect on the powerful story shared by Conni Reed, CEO of Consuela, at our Fall Luncheon. Conni’s journey from adversity to building a thriving company, Consuela, was both inspiring and deeply moving. She spoke openly about overcoming trauma, including the burden of childhood sexual assault—a reality that many carry in silence for years.
National data shows the average age for reporting sexual abuse is 52, and only 1 in 10 children will tell someone about their abuse. These statistics highlight the urgent need for early education and intervention.
Seeds of Strength is proud to support the Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center through our 2025 grant. Their work in Georgetown schools provides vital education and training to help children and young adults recognize, prevent, and report abuse, violence, and exploitation. By empowering youth with knowledge and resources, we help break cycles of trauma and create safer communities. See more about this program in the included article.
Our ability to fund these critical programs depends on the generosity of our members. As we approach the end of the year, I encourage you to renew your membership, invite others to join, and consider increasing your membership level or contribution. Every dollar makes a difference in reaching our $150,000 grants goal and supporting organizations that change lives.
Let’s approach this month with gratitude for our families, friends, community, and the positive impact we make together. Please take time to learn more about our grant recipients’ work and consider how you can help SOS continue to meet pressing community needs.
Thank you for your commitment and compassion.
