2012 RECIPIENTS:
THE CHRISTI CENTER
The Christi Center (For the Love of Christi) will have $7,500 to enhance their GT Kids Who Kare program.
“The Christi Center is so grateful to Seeds of Strength for your support of our Kids Who Kare program, which serves children ages 5 -12 who are grieving the death of a loved one. Although we have been offering adult services in Georgetown for several years, we have not been able to serve children until you made it possible! Beginning this fall, we will offer twice‐monthly grief support groups to children (with concurrent groups for parents/guardians) at our office at the Georgetown Community Resource Center. This support groups are offered completely free of charge to grieving families for as long as they need them.
Grief can be a very isolating experience for children. At school, they may not know any other kids who have lost a loved one. At home, their surviving parents and other caregivers may be grieving themselves and unable to assist children. For this reason, children are often referred to as “forgotten grievers”. Thanks to the women of Seeds of Strength, no grieving child in Georgetown will be forgotten or left to travel the grief journey alone. Thank you for helping us do this “heart work” of healing hurting hearts.”
