2013 RECIPIENT:
BROOKWOOD IN GEORGETOWN
Brookwood in Georgetown has $21,000 for helping more Georgetown mentally challenged young adults expand their pottery enterprise and purchase hand-bells and choir-chimes for citizen’s musical enrichment
“I want to thank Seeds of Strength for granting Brookwood in Georgetown $21,000. Wow… look what happens when generous women come together! I love your name, your hearts and especially all the good SOS has done for our community. Collectively, you have sewn “Seeds of Strength”, yes but SOS has sewn seeds of healing to the brokenhearted through Hope Alliance, seeds of encouragement to our youth through Boys and Girls Club, and many more seeds of beauty, comfort, knowledge, and love. And now for Brookwood in Georgetown (BIG), you have sewn seeds of hope and purpose to our adult citizens with intellectual disabilities. SOS knows of the huge need that exists once our special need children graduate from high school and as a result are facilitating a meaningful future for these amazing individuals. As a result of your funding we will be learning how to make beautiful music with chimes and bells. And furthermore, will increase our pottery production by 50% with the purchase of a pugmill extruder. Our citizens SHOUT OUT a BiG thank you to their favorite Georgetown women… “SOS came to our rescue!”
