Introducing Stories of Strength
Every year, our members come together and make decisions that change lives in our community. We read the applications, we ask the hard questions, we vote, and we celebrate. And then the real work begins — quietly, in the hands of the organizations we’ve funded.
Our Stories of Strength share the story of a past grant recipient — what they set out to do, what your generosity made possible, and who is living a different life today because of it. Some stories are about big, visible change. Others are about one person, one family, one moment when someone finally got the help they needed.
Thank you for being part of every one of these stories.
After becoming the victim of an aggravated assault, a mother of four lost not only her sense of security but also her home. The apartment was damaged during the assault, so the landlord put all their possessions on the curb and evicted them. The woman and her children moved in temporarily with an aunt, sharing one bedroom. Although the mother worked full-time and secured a new apartment, she had almost nothing to furnish it. Assistance Outreach Program helped the family start over by providing essential household items, including toiletries, towels, dishes, cookware, utensils, and a Ring doorbell to help restore a sense of safety and security.
Overwhelmed with gratitude, Naomi shared, “The Assistance Outreach program is heaven sent. Thank you for all you do and give.”
We at Assistance League/Uplift Wilco, are so grateful for our partnership with Seeds of Strength, which allowed this family to move from crisis toward stability and hope!
